The teacher lectures on the topic at hand and the students listen and ask such questions as they may have. The question and answer session may typically be held in a chat room much like the various instant messengers. Depending on the features of the school the chat may be only text, text and audio, or video chat. Long answers will probably be replied via email rather than during a live classroom session.

Note that some online nursing classes may take the approach of giving the student more independence. This means that you instructors will not always be around and you will be left to figure some things out on your own. This is done in the belief that such independent study will result in better understanding of the topic and lead to better experience. You will still have communication channels between your professors and other faculty. You will be receiving your assignments and notifications through email and you will be required to return them within the specified time.

Most of the online nursing classes will also require books that may be provided or you may have to buy, depending on the school you join. Remember that just because the class is on the internet it does not mean that everything you need to complete your course will also be found online. You will need to take some real world materials as well.
